Wanna Buy A Boondoggle?

Posted March 4th, 2011 by Iron Mike

In your effort to help Al Gore save the planet and reduce our carbon footprint, you were supposed to have already bought your electric car.

Chevy Volt - - Nissan Leaf

You’ve been dragging your heels America.  Last month GM sold only 281 Volts.  January was better with 321 sold.  Ouch!

Nissan Leaf sales are also sucking:  Jan = 87,  Feb = 67.

Total sales since rollout:  Volt 928  Leaf 173.  Anybody out there old enough to remember the Ford Edsel?  Anybody remember the role Robert McNamara played in the Edsel’s life cycle?

Today a vintage Edsel still in running condition can fetch $100K at auction.  Collectors have their own priorities.

Are Volt owners visionary trend setter, suckers,  or just committed environmentalists?

If gas prices go to $5.oo/ gal by July 4th,  maybe people will start to buy Volts.

Otherwise, they should take care of their future collector’s items.

I remember hearing that GE (Jeff Immelt) is buying a fleet of volts with the $7500 government kiss and building the female end of the power stations to recharge that pig around the countryside and I am sure there is a kiss involved there also. In this case GE and Government Motors (GM) gets kissed and we get screwed.

NASA had the second rocket (fairing) failure today in two years with their “global warming” sattelite. What is the carbon footprint for these failures? Since global warming is “junk science”, maybe this is God’s way of saying “Forget about it!”

Both are testimonies to the absurdity of “green energy” and “global warming.”
