Sad and shocking. I just spoke to him on the telephone days ago and he seemed great. A wonderful patriot and gentleman.

John will be missed. RIP friend.

  4. Varvara

John I am sorry to hear you have left us….

This comes as a true Patriot has left our team. He was
a solid conservative and a great spokesperson
and activist for many within our Tea Party groups.

He was the individual I met in 2009 who have
me the courage to start the Greater Marlborough
Tea party. Ever since, many of us enjoyed and actively
Participated in many of the events, Bus trips and
especially his tireless Secure Community launch.

He will be truly missed by all. May he forever rest
    in please.

    Ralph B.

And never forget, a proud Marine Vet too!

I last saw him at Marie Nieber’s burial in Northborough. Two wonderful Northborough Patriots have left us within 4 months.

I trust that they are now together again, doubtless beseeching God to help this Nation in a time of urgent need for spiritual and moral regeneration.

I’ll plant a Gadsden at the site.

Oh, no! What a good man and what a fighter he was. We are diminished. RIP, John.

John will be sorely missed. He was a patriot and truly loved his country. He was willing to do everything in his power to help save it. While he was a gentleman, he was a powerful force when advocating his positions who earned the respect of both his compatriots and also his adversaries.

    He will be sorely missed.

R.I.P. John. Barbara, my thoughts and prayers to you and your children.

  10. Hal Shurtleff

John was a blessing to all who knew him. My prayers to his lovely wife, Barbara and children.

  11. Hal Shurtleff

I had the honor of knowing John since the mid 1990’s. He was a loving husband, loving father, Patriot, and friend. He served his Lord and country all of life.

John you did great work down here as a patriot. We will miss you greatly. But I’m sure God has some important work for you to do up there. Semper Fi my brother

A fine and decent man who cared more about his country than his own personal gain. His legacy of hard work for the cause should bring every establishment Republican to shame. If our republican leadership had even one iota of the integrity that John had, our state would not be in the mess we are in. Rest in peace my friend.

  14. Blossom Stiefel

Very very sad news for all of us. John was always the strength that we needed to continue our fight for the future of our children and grandchildren.

A real American Patriot and an inspiration for all of us as we continue to fight for our country. Now, we must go on without his encouragement.

We miss you and will think of you often as we try to make our country great again. Thank you so much for all that you have given to us–your courage, your patriotism, your perseverance, your hard work and your kindness. You have done great things for so many people.

G-d bless Barbara and your family. Rest in peace.

John was a tireless warrior, friend, mentor, family man, patriot, Christian, etc., etc. who gave it all, always. Barbara, you have my deepest sympathy. Without John (and Barbara) and his tireless, selfless, numerous contributions, many of us would have been on the sidelines without a clue or a plan. John (and Barbara) enabled us to accomplish so much. RIP. God Speed. May God Bless. John will be deeply missed and very fondly remembered by all.

  16. Kojack

I didn’t know John except thru the various conservative networks I am involved with and it is easy to see he was a force by himself right up there with Andrew Breitbart.

RIP John and my deepest sympathies to Barbara.

  17. Brad Wyatt

A True Patriot, inspired so many including myself to continue the fight. John will never be forgotten for sacrificing his time, talent, and treasure for America.

  18. Mike N

John was the hardest fighting supporter of conservatism I have ever met, and I respected him immensely. I will miss him very much. My prayers go out to his friends and family, and also to his fellow Tea Partiers.

  19. Chris Pinto

John O’Mara is one of the finest men I have come to know through politics.

He was always generous with his time and talents. I really consider myself to be a better man from working with him and I feel honored to have been able to know him.

I would always be flattered when he called me and asked me to help him with whatever he was working on at the time. That he took the time to ask me to get involved with him meant that he valued everyone’s contribution.

John was one of the few that is irreplaceable. We will feel the loss forever.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his dear wife Barbara and his entire family.

John truly was an inspiring man. It is because of his encouragement that so many of us have gotten involved and active in fighting for better government. His impact has been immeasurable and it continues. RIP, John, and thank you.

What a great loss to all who knew him and to our conservative cause. Always positive, pleasant, using his wonderful power to connect with people inviting us to follow him in preserving our great American Country.

We will miss him and think of him with kind thoughts. He has left a legacy and energy for Patriotism which will revere him in our memories.

May God be with Barbara and their family,
    Annette and Bill Spitzer

Such sad news. John inspired so many and so much. He will be terribly missed.

  23. Wayne S Hancock

John was a great man , during our creation of the Clinton Ma Tea Party he and his wife were instrumental in its creation. John was a true grass roots Patriot and a true example for others to follow, he will be sorely missed. Bless you Sir.

Early this morning, I was deeply saddened and shocked to hear this news about the passing of Northborough Tea Party leader and true patriot, John O’Mara this past weekend.

The last communication I had with him was a donation he sent in the mail recently to Make Massachusetts Great Again SuperPAC with a personal note, “Full Speed Ahead !” He was driven and made a huge difference.

I have fond memories of the many bus trips for Secure Communities with John and fellow tea partiers.

Thoughts and prayers are with Barbara and the family. May his memory be eternal.

  25. Tom Weaver

John was a great man. He always listened and was very honest in his responses. He truly loved the United States and worked hard to return her to that shining city on a hill, He will be missed. May he rest in peace in the arms of the Almighty.

  26. Marty Lamb

There aren’t enough words to praise what a great person and patriot John was. May his memory be a blessing and inspiration to all that knew him and were touched by him.
My prayers are with Barbara and his family

  27. Jim

John was the consummate patriot. One of his favorite quotes, at the end of all his emails, sums up what drove him forward every day. “It does not take a majority to prevail… but rather an irate, tireless
minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.”
    – Sam Adams

He had a vision, that many followed. A true leader, he created energy. Energy for us all to consume in following his vision. From starting websites to get support for an issue, to engaging sub-groups to take action, to organizing trips to DC to visit congressmen he never wavered.

John, I will miss you very much. I will say prayers for you and your family.

  28. Claire Bonnafe

So sad to hear of Johns passing. He was one of the best patriots I ever met. He put in so much hard work in everything he did for the community and for the advancement of concervatism through the Tea Party. May god Bless him and his family.

  29. Ted Tripp

It was a shock when I heard about John passing away during the Labor Day weekend. We had been working on the First Annual Restore America Conference & Expo and John was looking forward to bringing all the Mass. conservatives together to revitalize the conservative movement in this liberal state.

John was a leader is so many ways: the Tea Party, Secure Communities, the fight against giving driver’s licenses to illegal aliens, organizing to elect Trump to keep Hillary out of office, and many others.

John’s MO was full speed ahead and take no prisoners. I don’t know where he got the energy and tenacity, but I’m glad he had both.

I wish we had more John O’Maras all around us to help carry the fight. He was a great example to us all.

I am blessed to have known John (and know his lovely wife, Barbara) and am a better person for it.

    God bless you, John.

  30. Barbara Sands

I tried to refuse to believe his passing away. I feel we’re in a boat with no oars. The heart of the party is gone. I know we’re going to have to go on and win for him this fall. We owe that to John and Marie to fight even harder. John has been an inspiration to all of us and I felt safe that we were getting some place against this insanity. I know there’s a lot of other good people and we will go on. Barbara you’re not alone we all loved him.

  31. RAYMOND Hanna

My thoughts and prayers are with Barbra and John’s family. Knowing John all these years while working for Act For America and working together on this last project exemplifies what a true patriot and warrior John was in regards to keeping this country safe and great. He was the true definition of “when the going gets tough, the tough get going”. John never gave up the fight to keep America conservative, he will be truly missed.

With the deep admiration and sympathy ,
    Ray and Jean Hanna

Semper Fidelis John. You will be sorely missed.

John was a great American, Patriot, and a drummer for the truth, common sense, and American Exceptionalism.

I am blessed to have known him.

My heartfelt condolences to Barbara, and the rest of the family. You shall be in my prayers.

    Earl Sholley

  33. Jim McGrath

My sincerest condolences to John’s wife Barbara and his family. John was one of the most patriotic gentlemen I’ve ever had the distinct honor of knowing.
John not only talked the talk, but walked the walk. I wish I could only be half the patriot and man you were John. Rest in peace!

John O’Mara led by example. He inspired many with the truth and his encouraging smile. He was a rare man who had the foresight and intellect to bring before the public numerous informative speakers. His tireless dedication and direction will be sorely missed. May he rest in peace and God Bless his family.

  35. Donna Colorio

My thoughts and prayers go out to Barbara and the O’Mara family. John believed that our country could be restored and fought every day to make that happen. Our community, state and country is better off because of John’s work. RIP John, you will be truly missed.

  36. Ron Motta

“Big John” was one of the tallest men I ever had the pleasure of knowing. He proved the saying the “it’s not the size of the dog in the fight…but it’s the size of the fight in the dog”! God bless him for everything that he was and that he stood for! He will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to have met him in their journey!

  37. Vic Melfa

We have a lot for which to thank John.
Barbara who partnered with him says the best way we can honor him at this time is to make the RACE Conference better than he expected.
Please go to and join us at the RACE Conference Saturday September 17th!
I will be at the tables promoting the 1st Amendment and Religious Freedom.
    Thanks and God Bless!
    Vic Melfa

It was wonderful to see so many people support our family and pay tribute to my Dad.
