The list of folks who wanted him dead is pretty long – including India, Pakistan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, and the US.
Lacking proof, – the Iranians have immediately blamed Israel, but without evidence they’re just shouting into the desert wind.
Fakhrizadeh met his end riding in a sedan on the AbSard Road, – some 40 miles east of Tehran.

If I had to bet, I’d bet on Israel. They and the Saudis are probably doing all they can, in case the pretend president takes office, and then Iran gets most favored nation status.

Safe money would be on a Mossad operation. Not necessarily an Israeli assassin. Could well be an Iranian dissident recruited by the Mossad. i doubt we ever really know.

Regardless of who did the deed (a strategically placed car bomb that disabled the nuke guy’s caravan and got him/them strafed by automatic fire….), consider that the goal of the perp(s) (and there certainly are enough of them….) might be to seminate an Iranian response substantial enough to cause a massive retaliatory strike that puts an end to this Iranian madness once and for all.
Just sayin’….
