Haroldo and Juan

Posted May 17th, 2011 by Iron Mike

Once there were two Leon brothers, Haroldo and Juan, – who were quietly engaged in the drug business in Guatemala – just minding their own business you might say.

Sunday night 29 of their farm laborers were decapitated.

You think you drug habit is your own personal business?

Guess again.

You see, Mexico has slowly tried to clean up it’s act and crack down on it’s drug cartels. The cartels have responded by moving operations south into Guatemala – where there is far less effective law enforcement.

But they remain a pushy bunch. If they want your business, or your life, – they fully intend to take it.

Back in March 2008 Los Zetas – Mexico’s most ruthless and violent gang – started by former Mexican soldiers and police – decided they wanted Juan’s business. They murdered him along with ten of his workers.

Last week it was Heraldo who was in the way.  As he drove toward his farm with cash for this payroll, he was murdered.  At the same time gunmen from the Z-200 cell of Los Zetas descended upon the ranch.

They beheaded everybody they could find – men, women, kids.

Do you suppose they wanted the ranch, – or they just used it to send a ‘message’ to other ranches nearby?

Do you get the message? Still think your drug use is ‘harmless’?

The message: written in blood.

In Chelsea there was a significant number of Guatemalans in that unrully crowd. Maybe they have fled the encroachment of the drug cartels, maybe they have fled the lack of police protection or maybe they are looking for a better life in the “land of opportunity? If they have entered the country legally we applaud them, but if they have entered illegaly they should fear the law and ICE, because they have broken the law. This may explain their raucous behavior and negative response to Secure Communities implementation enflamed by their facilitators and advocacy groups.
