David Olive: College President With Courage

Posted February 14th, 2021 by Iron Mike

If you’re a kid playing basketball for a tiny Baptist College on the West Virginia border,  – in the heart of the Shenandoahs,  – you better be readying yourself for a career working a REAL job in the REAL world.  The NBA is not in your future…

Trying to ‘make a statement’ like Colin Kaepernick,  – after two summers of unending racial violence and burning cities,  is exactly the kind of thing that will turn off the donor money from college supporters and alumni.

College President David Olive wasn’t even aware that his basketball team had been kneeling during the Anthem at games.  When he heard about it – he ordered it to stop.

The players disobeyed – and knelt again.  He suspended them and they had to forfeit a game.

It seems that for some of the players – (attending a very good school) that their perceived racial injustice grievances are far more important in this moment than any insult that might be felt by the general public, – by veterans, – or by Bluefield alumni.

So they’ll sit out the Anthem in the locker room for the rest of the season.

You can lead a horse to water…but you can’t make him drink…

You can lead a whore to culture,…but you can’t make her think!

Who (parents – teachers – preachers) inculcated these young men to see themselves as ‘VICTIMS’…?

Good for this College leader with courage. The expression of outrage that stems from Colin K and deaths like that of George Floyd goes far beyond what it proper or correct. Colin K is a spoiled football player millionaire who should kiss the ground he walks on daily for all that this nation has done for him. For those folks from BLM and Antifa who looted and rioted following the death of GF they need to sit down, google and watch and listen to the entire 19 minutes of video and later transcribed voice of what happened to MR. Floyd who was a convicted thug. Ever wonder why not trial and “justice” for the officers charged! Watch and listen to the tapes and you will understand. Mr. Floyd was a thug. If that makes me a racist so be it. ALL LIVES MATTER is my mantra.

Nice to see a college administrator with the intestinal fortitude do do what is right.

Courage? Not really. Players are allowed to stay in locker room during playing of National Anthem.

    Their scholarships should be revoked.
