Data Mining: You’ve Surrendered Your Soul!

Posted March 21st, 2018 by Iron Mike

The news will be FULL of Facebook,  Zuckerberg,  and Cambridge Analytica for weeks to come – or at least until Trump fires Mueller….

Suddenly both the left-wing media (the Propaganda Ministry) and the non-technical world have discovered the 25-year-old term “Data Mining”Scandal?  Hardly!

The left is in a tizzy because they discovered that Steve Bannon may have helped Trump get elected by using targeted ads – targeted from data mined personal information.

“That must be illegal – RIGHT?”

Hardly!  Your credit card companies have been doing it for over 20 years!  Every purchase you make is cataloged – and a profile of you created,….then aged over time as you grow older and your tastes, interests, and dress size changes.

But,…but,…Hillary and the DNC didn’t do it….(snivel)…

Maybe they tried, – but could Democrats have found any more corruptinept,  and incompetent leaders than Hillary, DWS and Donna Brazil…?

Both as a politician and as her Party’s “Leader” – Hillary proved herself in way over her head,  was often befuddled,  kept coughing and gagging,  fell on a regular basis,  and kept returning home to “rest up”.

Trump by contrast was making 4 to 7 stops a day – to HUGE CROWDS!

2016 proved a step back in time for the Democrat Party.  It was as if the Clintons were rejecting the tools Obama had used to win in 2008 and again in 2012.

Democrats in 2008 were THRILLED because Obama used an iPhone,  – to them it PROVED he was smart, cool, and hip.

Then by 2012 when he used data-mining to target ads to certain groups by age, race, income level and special interest, – they thought he was a GENIUS (certainly compared to lumbering elitist RiNO Romney).

It wasn’t until after her 2016 loss that Democrats realized she’d been no better organized or web-savvy than Romney was four years earlier,  – while that Trump guy Bannon had learned all the tricks.  OMG! How EVIL!

Evil?  Maybe, but using data to target advertising is fully legal.  Much of the same data is actually public information – you can purchase a CD of the voter rolls at a nominal cost,…and use it any way you want.

Companies like Cambridge Analytica just do it in a more massive format,  faster,  cheaper than you can working at home.

So the cat is out of the bag,  – and there will be a dozen firms offering the service – often to BOTH parties simultaneously,  – and from off-shore – just to stay out of reach of the FEC and the DOJ….(just in case some software engineer steps over a line).

Welcome to the 21st Century….and be damn careful what you post about yourself and your friends.

And note carefully which news outlets brand data mining “evil”,  – when it refers to Trump’s campaign.

They thought it was BRILLIANT back in 2008 and 2012 when the Anointed One was using it!

Think it’s “Just Facebook”?

In 2008 Obysmal not only used Facebook he had Zuckerberg stacking the deck for him. His biggest advantage by far though was WHITE GUILT.

In 2012 he could have been beaten except that the GOP had a milk-toast RiNO that made a lot of conservatives sit out the election.

Does the phrase, “Hoisted on their own petard” apply?

    (Heh heh)

Thank GOD Trump used it to reach voters where he needed them to WIN!

Now you all can realize why some of us REFUSE to get into Facebook or any of the social media. It can and likely will bite you.

    Iron Mike and friends,

Please, read and understand your constitution again. Especially, the parts about privacy and the electoral process. When you done please read about electoral fraud.

Also, two wrongs do not make a right. That is illogical.

Well Rusty, I keep a Constitution beside this computer, – and carry another everywhere I go….

….so IF you have a point to make about data mining and targeted ad campaigns, please be far more SPECIFIC. I don’t have time to decipher oblique references.

Folks may not be happy that they can be targeted, but they sign up for it when they use credit cards and social media, – just as many web sites use ‘cookies’. It’s not against the law, – at least not until the government starts targeting you.

AND BTW,…the Chinese, the Russians, the Turks are ALL on your computer – and on most business websites – 24 x 7 x 365/366 harvesting both megadata and personal data.
