Acton Voters Display 80+% Indifference

Posted March 31st, 2010 by Iron Mike

There was a vote yesterday here in Acton, MA.  Most of the 13,530 registered voters didn’t seem to give a shit.  Only Harry Tisnseth had an excuse – he was being buried.

Congratulations to the winners.  Thanks to the others who had the courage to step up and run.  Your town may not deserve your offer of service or your patriotism.  When 10,919 US Citizens won’t bother to walk fifty feet through the rain to vote, – then they deserve the government they get.  After all, they weren’t being asked to charge  British soldiers at the North Bridge or spend the winter at Valley Forge.

Just seventy (70) days ago  9,338 Actonians (69%) managed to get to the polls and vote in the Special Election that saw Scott Brown replace Fat Teddy and placeholder Kirk.   But yesterday, only 2,611 voters – a mere 19% of those 13,530 registered, showed up to vote.  Over a million dead American Veterans are squirming in their graves.  What on earth did they die for?

Of the few voters who did show up,  most voted for the tax & spend & tax some more group of Progressives.  The two declared “Republicans” lost big time.  Spending will continue as usual.

So if you live in Acton, and your taxes go up, – look in the mirror.  If you see your money being spent on other people’s “feel-good” projects, – look in the mirror.

If your elected officials are as indifferent to your calls, your e-mails, and your voice as Congresswoman Niki Tsongas is, – you have only yourselves to blameYou didn’t bother to vote.  And these spenders can rightfully expect you won’t bother to show up at Town Meetings either.  Just get out your checkbooks, and bend over.

9,337 of you have covered yourselves in shame,  4,192 of you for the second time already this year.  In a world where people still risk death to get purple ink on their fingers,  you have a lot to be ashamed of.

Acton is a bastion of progressive liberalism. In January they were one of the few towns in the state that did not vote for Scott Brown. What can you expect? There is nothing worse than an apathetic citizenry who does not have the time to vote. We have a town election on April 6th in Chelmsford and I will wager that there will be a good turnout, because whether you agree with the results or not, the important thing to do is get out and vote and they usually do, rain or shine. For those who gave their lives on the battlefields during the Revolution and every subsequent war either here in the United States, on the high seas or in far off countries we owe them nothing less. God bless them all and God bless this Great Country.

Excellent post, sir. And, if I’m correct, Harry voted absentee… as did I. rr
