Established to communicate mainstream and conservative Republican thinking. For a brief moment, as Obama swept into office, we felt like we were wandering alone through a socialist desert. But quickly your hits started adding up, and we know that we’re not alone. Part of the blame also lies with the leadership of our own Republican Party – mostly for trying to win votes by running RiNO candidates who masquerade as pseudo-Democrats.

I can only imagine the phone calls, emails and texts!

Mitt just got his Etch-a-Sketch shaken in Louisiana; – Santorum beat him decisively 49% – 27%.

Other than Carpetbagger-strewn Florida, Mitt has YET to win a Southern State! If you can’t win the South, …you can’t win.

Worse, voter turnout in Illinois Tuesday was the LOWEST in 70 years, making Mitt’s ‘win’ there another pyrrhic victory – since he outspent Santorum 7 to 1.

We’re looking at a convention floor fight in Tampa.

Meanwhile, the State Committee meets in just 11 days – and a bunch of new members are arriving who are NOT about to be rubber stamps. Will Maginn DOUBLE DOWN on Mitt, – or become a REAL state-wide Party Chairman?

So Robert,…whatcha gonna do when they call for you?

/s/ Iron Mike
Old Soldier, – Still Good for Parts!

Let’s see if the NEW State Committee has enough class to send Dick Cheney a Get Well card.

Can the short man stand up to the BIG challenge?

Does he even understand the issues?

There’s just been a sea change in the MassGOP State Committee, and the newly elected members didn’t run to join the self-deluding old-boys at the bar. They don’t like being an 11% laughingstock party.

And they sure didn’t run to be Mitt Romney’s altar boys.

Maginn wanted this job. Now will he harness the energy of the new leaders, – or will he dig in and just carry out Mitt’s orders?

Maginn’s political history is of bad decisions; – his OCPF fine, – the $2,500.oo to Chuck Schumer, – the $500.oo to Deval Patrick, – attempting to bribe incumbent committee members with free campaign web sites, – the failure to embrace and unite both sides after his election,…hiring Blute and Torky on his own Jenzabar payroll to do Party work.

You don’t have to be a political genius to understand how close Maginn’s future is hooked to Mitt Romney becoming the GOP standard bearer. If Mitt weren’t the ‘leading contender’ – Maginn wouldn’t even be in the picture.

But he is. Now can Maginn be a real leader, – or is he just here to provide room service to Romney?

Maginn will need to do some quick soul-searching:

- Is he in this for himself; – perhaps a future cabinet post or ambassadorship…?

- Is he in this for us – the beleagured Republicans of the Commonwealth…?

- Is he simply here to serve his old friend Mitt Romney? And if Mitt is NOT the nominee, will he bail in September?

- Can Bob, – a man used to wielding power by investing other people’s money – adjust to working with a committee now populated by committee members who insist on having a voice?

  Image Issues:

No getting around the obvious – Maginn does not present the standard image of a leader.

No leader since Napoleon has been so vertically challenged. Can Maginn find a way to fill the room, and fill followers with confidence instead of scorn?

Equally pressing, can he quietly deliver the MassGOP from the clutches of Ron ‘Chocolate Pants’ Kaufman – our disgraceful national committeeman?

It will be hypocritical of Republicans to mock JPK3s Hugo Chavez connection if we still have Kaufmann in an official position.

Keeping Kaufman essentially guarantees another Kennedy in Congress come January!

  Message Issue:

By now it should be clear to even the most committed RiNO – Mitt Romney isn’t winning conservative hearts and minds – even when he does get votes. Republicans may ~ settle ~ for Romney, but in their hearts they want someone more conservative – and not a lifetime flip-flopper!

Can and will Maginn find the courage to formulate and deliver a strong state-wide Republican message [and platform] – or will he continue to weaken the Party by clinging to the RiNO positions.

  Legal Issues:

Lurking just offstage to the left are a series of nagging legal issues waiting to boil over this summer and fall. Thus far Maginn has appeared to be either unaware – or worse – indifferent.

- The books of the MassGOP are is dire need of an outside audit. If Maginn dawdles, he may get a ‘free’ audit from either Bill Galvin, Mike Sullivan or Suzsanne Bump – or all three – a task force!

- Hiring Peter Blute and Peter Torkildsen to do GOP work, – while paying them through Jenzabar’s payroll, – may subject Jenzabar to serious federal scrutiny.

Can you imagine the glee that Eric Holder will take in this investigation?

Should a government-led audit take place – the findings will range from embarrassing to devastating. Several MassGOP officials – past and present – may need legal representation.

What do you want to bet that the MassGOP doesn’t carry this kind of insurance to pay peoples’ legal fees?

Mister Maginn has a lot of decisions and a lot of work to do in the next 16 days.

We wish him a clear vision and the courage to execute it. Until he does though Folks – don’t feed the RiNOs!

/s/ Iron Mike
Old Soldier, – Still Good for Parts!

Quietly and with very little fanfare, Mass Republican Voters went to the polls Tuesday and picked Mitt Romney as their favorite to beat Obama.

And across the state they also voted in 38 NEW members to the State Committee. Two more contests await the counting of write-ins.

By all that’s fair – it should signal the Dawn of a New Era on Merrimac Street – and across our pathetic RiNO-infested Commonwealth.

But Tuesday was just the end of a chapter. A new one begins when the results are certified to Galvin’s office. From Merrimac Street I hear the audible grinding of teeth.

Tuesday’s results mean a new balance of power. New blood – Conservative blood – will be attending the next quarterly meeting.

These new members will not be made to feel welcome. The ‘old boys and old girls’ will make every effort to belittle and demean them, to treat them as ‘fresh off the boat’ – and to relegate them to the back of the room – were the unwanted spectators stand.

They’ll be lectured to in private and in public – told that for now EVERYthing is ALL ABOUT MITT!

They’ll be told to table all other issues until after the election.

And they’ll be probed to see where they’re vulnerable, – maybe at work, maybe in their community, maybe they can be bullied or bribed.

They will begin to see, hear, and feel the ugly side of insider politics – while still not being welcomed to the inner circle.

Chairman Runty Maginn has money to spread around too! Mitt’s money. The weakest will be offered bribes to ‘go along to get along’. The old-timers already know this dance step.

But the RiNOs should heed the wake-up call.

The mood is changing here in MassHole. Between über-liberal Democrats and ooey-gooey RepubliCrats, voters have begun to figure out why the jobs are leaving the state just as fast as their retiring neighbors.

It’s time to put our Citizens and our Voters FIRST!

This Gawd-damned socialist experiment is untenable!

Government pre-occupation with stuffing payrolls, gay sex laws, marijuana, gambling, and coddling illegals has worn very thin. It’s also proving unaffordable.

The returning Committee Critters better look at their election results carefully. Many barely squeaked out a win. My own critter won a 3-way race – but 55% of those who voted did NOT want him back.

The major embarrassments of the MassGOP need to be changed or tossed out – pronto!

- We need a genuine and unapologetic conservative state platform, and a statewide campaign.

- We need to dump Chocolate Pants; – his associations with Hugo Chavez border on treasonous.

- We need to become inclusive of special interest groups [single-agenda groups] – WITHOUT catering to them.

- We need to welcome and embrace the TEA Parties as allies and partners. They are true Patriots. They’re NOT the enemies of Republicans!

- We need to stand up for the unborn, the 2nd Amendment, and the 10th Amendment. Since WHEN is an illegal alien – with a criminal history – more precious or more important to us than an unborn baby?

If after Tuesday the MassGOP cannot or will not stand tall for traditional Republican and Conservative Principles – they can EXPECT the ‘un-enrolled’ or ‘independent’ voters to remain skeptical – and distant.

To all the New Members and returning Conservatives, – I tip my hat to you, – I wish you both courage and energy, and I will gladly stand with you in the fight.

Force the fossils to change – or step aside – and let’s see if the MassGOP can be made worthy of voter time, sweat, and money.

/s/ Iron Mike
Old Soldier, – Still Good for Parts!

Oh, and we also need a new WEB SITE – complete with members’ contact information. What are you old fossils afraid of, actually talking to your voters about issues?

The MassGOP website should be speaking a Clear Republican Message that any candidate or voter can be proud to stand on. Right now I’m pretty sure that this blog and RedMassGroup are getting far more hits.

S-I-L-E-N-T on Obama’s SOTU

Shhhh! We wouldn’t want to alienate any of our neighborhood Democrats. So if the PotUS delivers a hour-long campaign speech – full of bluster, lies, and threats, – why haven’t we heard rebuttal and indignation from our ‘Republican Leadership’? They’ve had two days!?!

But ‘NEW LEADERSHIP’ in the person of Romney-guy Bob Maginn hasn’t brought the RiNOs out from under their mushrooms and rocks. They’re still keeping a low profile…

If you didn’t hear the speech yourself [we’re all getting a little deaf to him] – here is the short version courtesy of Mark Alexander at The Patriot Post.

The short version: “I went … I know … My … My … I took office … I’m president … I will work … I intend … I will oppose … I want … I took office … I refused … me … my … my … me … I will sign … I set … I will go … I will not … I promise … I hear … I want … me … My … I want … I am … I spoke … me … I believe … my … I took office … me … I will sign … my … my … my … I will not … I will not walk … I will not cede … I will … I’m directing … my … I will sign … I’ve … my … my … I’ve ordered … I guess … I will not … I will … I will not … I will … my … I told … my presidency …me … my … I get … I don’t … I recognize … I bet … I’ve … me … I will … I ask … I’ve … me … I believe … my … my … I can … I have … I will take … I mean … I intend … I’ve … I’ve … I’ve … I’m a Democrat me … I believe … I began … my … I sat … me for president … me … I look … I’m (Applause.)”

Those chirping sounds you hear coming from 85 Merrimac Street are the Romney Crickets – holding their breath until after the Florida Primary.

And with both Newt and Santorun picking up speed – they may have to hold them well past Super Tuesday.

Their spiffy new website
still fails to list contact information
for the 80 State Committee Critters
- EACH up for re-election in just 39 days.

Why don’t they list phone numbers and e-mail addresses?

BECAUSE they DON’T WANT you BOTHERING THEM!

They hold PUBLIC office, but want to remain PRIVATE!?!?

Many of these ‘elite dinosaurs’ see themselves as ‘the brain trust of the party’.

They want to go to the quarterly meetings, mingle, drink, and feel important. Actual party work out on the streets in the hustings would be beneath them. Might soil their expensive shoes.

They’re the ‘1%’ of the 11%,…and they’ll let you know it.

51 of them voted for Maginn. They’re in it for themselves. Please vote them OUT on March 6th!

Chairman of the MassGOP
– Bob Maginn.

Bob won 51 – 21 – 1.

Perhaps it was never in doubt even when 80+ McNamara supporters showed up to cheer Frank on. The only votes that counted tonight were the 73 Committee Critters who showed up – and even one of them wasted our time.

You had to be there to hear, see, smell, and feel the difference between the old guard [stuck in the 70s] and the vibrant Republican Party that is just itching to burst forth. Tonight the old guard defended their turf.

The Maginn hospitality room was well guarded. The few McNamara supporters who slipped in were treated like intruders. Hospitality was not the mission, securing votes – by any means was the agenda. 2½ hours later they began to emerge – led by Prom Queen Jody Dow – drink in hand.

Momma Kangas ran the Politboro in a manner that would have made Stalin smile. A motion to hold a debate was quickly disposed of.

The assembled critters wanted to hear the speeches, vote – and hit the bar. Screw debate!

McNamara’s speech was sharp – direct – and warmed the hearts of the crowd [you know – that unwanted crowd of hard-working Republican riff-raff].

He received a sincere standing ovation.

By contrast Maginn was underwhelming – in statue, prose, and delivery. He read his speech in a manner befitting Obama, – and like Obama he lost his place and fumbled three times. I see a teleprompter in the immediate future of the MassGOP. I don’t see an articulate debater or spokesman.

The voting was tedious and by secret ballot. You are not to know who your critter voted for. That’s an inner sanctum secret. Maginn won 51 – 21 – with one fool too stupid to mark a ballot.

McNamara’s concession speech was short, gracious, and uniting. Maginn’s acceptance speech had all the excitement and inspiration of a software algorithm.

As a lifelong Republican I truly hopes he succeeds. As an aging geezer – I think we conservatives need to have a back-up plan.

TRULY ASTOUNDING: On the very day that former Speaker Sal DiMasi reported to federal prison for accepting B-R-I-B-E-S, 51 elected Republican Committeemen and women voted as our leader a man who gave $2,400.oo to Chuck Schumer – calling it ‘just business’ - and openly offered them BRIBES.

Foolishly, many of them look upon Maginn as a ‘White Knight’ or a ‘Rainmaker’ – someone who will both do the heavy lifting and bring in the BIG $$$ donations. They seem unconcerned with what kind of message emanates from Merrimac Street.

From my perspective each of those 51 need to be voted out of office next March 6th – even if you have to mount local write-in campaigns. They are emblematic of what’s wrong with our party – and why we are just 11%.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlOvMoNkz7Y&feature=youtu.be

Tonight when I’ve hit the ‘Publish’ button, I’ll turn off the computer, say a prayer for my Party and my Country, and try to ease this night’s memories from my brain. Tomorrow I’ll try to piss off some Democrats, and I’ll leave the RiNOs to graze contentedly in their pyrrhic victory.

Those of you who know Frank McNamara – please make a point of thanking him for running a clean, honest, and very classy race. He is one great Republican and a hell of a fine American.

G’Nite!
