RIP: Dick Gregory 1932 – 2017

Posted August 20th, 2017 by Iron Mike

I remember watching Dick on TV in the 1960s – as he broke barrier after barrier – with gentle humor.  He made America willing to talk about race in our homes, in the workplace, and in schools.
Two timeless video snippets below the fold:

Dick could get a point across without being ‘in your face’.

Where are the Dick Gergorys of the Millennial Generation?   Who will provide a comic counterpoint to BLM?

Funny stuff!! I remember when Dick Gregory was considered pretty radical, his humor was not appreciated by everyone because the subtle racial overtones made many uncomfortable. Today’s youth of all racial origins are probably thinking–huh?? What’s so funny?? SO SAD WHERE WE’VE FALLEN.

I can’t believe that this is the first time I have ever heard of this man.
