RIP: Charles Edward “Chuck” Berry

Posted March 18th, 2017 by Iron Mike

Another touchstone of my youth gone home to God.

For you youngsters,….Chuck was a true revolutionary,…with no dirty words….

There was a time when “Black Recording Artists” could actually play instruments,  – make music, – and sing songs where you could understand the words.

Chuck Berry on The Tonight Show,   November 5, 1987

This man was a LEGEND!

I saw him live at the Paramount Theater in Brooklyn circa 1955. What a performer!

He was a consummate artist and a fabulous talent; we are diminished. May he rest in peace.

A good man has departed us and leaves behind a legacy for many to emulate. This black life did matter and did well for himself and those of us of all colors who enjoyed him music.

Just think….The Beatles and Stones were playing Chuck Berry covers when they were still nobody’s in little night clubs.
