Justice Stephen Breyer Is Totally Wrong

Posted December 13th, 2010 by Iron Mike

And he’s a snarky smart-ass elitist SOB too!

There are basically two kind of people who want gun control and eventual gun confiscation:

Those who are gun-phobic. They fear the very sight of a gun, even the word ‘gun’,

And those who fear armed and angry citizens standing their ground – as on the Lexington Green the morning of April 19th 1775.

Justice Breyer is very special – he combines both.  His reasoning is a distortion of fact and history.  But we should expect this from a man born in San Francisco, educated at Stanford, Oxford, and Harvard, and appointed first by Jimmy Carter and later by Bill Clinton.  Breyer is the thinking liberal’s ideal girly-man.  It’s a role he clearly enjoys.

In his new book “Making Our Democracy Work” and Sunday on FoxNews, Breyer argued that our Founders were really against guns in the hands of private citizens.  He ignores the total lack of local and state police departments in 1887, and an ever-present danger from Indian attack on the frontier and pirate attack at sea.  He argues that writing the 2nd Amendment was a marketing trick by Madison to insure that the Constitution would be ratified by the states.

Breyer is pretty smart-ass about gun ownership too.  Speaking with Chris Wallace he said:

“We’re acting as judges. If we’re going to decide everything on the basis of history — by the way, what is the scope of the right to keep and bear arms? Machine guns? Torpedoes? Handguns? Are you a sportsman? Do you like to shoot pistols at targets? Well, get on the subway and go to Maryland. There is no problem, I don’t think, for anyone who really wants to have a gun.

Really Steven, – Torpedoes?  That’s the best arguement you can bring to the discussion?  So someone tries to mug you on a DC sidewalk – you run to Maryland to grab a gun for self-defense?

We truly wish no real harm to Justice Breyer, if for no other reason than we don’t dare give Obama another seat to fill.  But we can hope that Breyer experiences an epiphany in the near future.  Perhaps one dark night somebody will enter his home and scare the piss out of him before leaving. THEN perhaps Breyer will understand the world in the common sense way our founders did.

Breyer has lived his entire 72 years in a quasi-ecclesial liberal dream world.  He remains a great danger to our liberties and our nation.  Damn him!
