Democrats’ strategy: Start slinging

You knew it was coming.  So did I.  A certain few figured that bringing up negatives during the primary was bad form.  Well, that’s only if you think that the Ds won’t do it.  Witness the lead from the article below:

Democrats’ strategy: Start slinging

Negative advertisements have hit the airwaves early as Democratic candidates fight to preserve the party’s congressional majority.

I guess they figured that the Ds would go easy on the Rs now that the primary is over.  I figure that controversy during the primary helps the R candidate in several ways.

  1. The candidate gets to prepare reaction messages in a less time constrained environment.
  2. Negatives produced now will almost certainly be presented in the worst possible light.
  3. It will be difficult to combat these attacks.
  4. No substitutions will be allowed.  The primary was the time to choose the candidate with the fewest flaws.  We missed that opportunity.
