Merry Christmas Americans!
In most circles and in most families it’s considered somewhat rude to talk politics at Christmas gatherings. We’re expected to focus on the joys of family, friends, and the true meaning of the season, the birth of a Savior in Bethlehem some 2009 years ago. Normally talk of work, war, and politics are left outside.
Normally. But once before with our country under siege by a foreign power Americans used Christmas to our advantage. George Washington took his starving, freezing, burlap-wrapped rag-tag remnants of the Continental Army across the ice-clogged Delaware River and attacked Trenton, using Christmas to achieve surprise, and win what would become a turning point victory. Now we need you to be as bold and as clever as George Washington.
Use the various gatherings this Christmastime to gather intelligence on your co-workers, neighbors, friends, family and your extended circle of acquaintances. Learn what they’re thinking – or at least what they’re willing to say in comfortable settings. Don’t be confrontational or argumentative, – don’t let things get hot. Your mission now is to gather intelligence. Just ask gentle non-threatening questions, and quietly keep a tally of the answers. Except here in Massachusetts [where we have just 27 days until the senate election] the rest of you have about seven months to gently shatter mythology and return wayward voters to the Constitution. This won’t happen over Christmas, but the information you gather will be very helpful.
Ask questions like: What do you think about the Health Care Bill? How about the way the Senate passed it?
What do you think of Obama’s 37 Czars, like Van Jones, Kevin Jennings, and Cass Sunstein?
Do you believe in man-made global warming, – or did the e-mails reveal the hoax behind the science? Why?
How is Obama doing around the world? What will he do next year?
What do you think about bring the terrorists to trial in New Your City? What will happen? What about Fort Hood?
Any of these should be enough to start conversations, – or for some folks to exhibit discomfiture and clam up. The key in each case is the gentle follow-up question which causes them to explain their thinking in a little more detail, – or reveal that they’re just parroting gibberish and haven’t done any research or thinking. What seems like casual conversation will end up giving you clues and openings you’ll need to recapture these lost Americans.
Understand how urgent your mission is this Christmas. In just 46 short weeks we’ll know if we’ve recaptured Congress [our Trenton] or if our beloved nation is sliding irrevocably down the greased skids of international socialism and one-world government. You’re not marching to battle in a snowstorm. But your mission is exactly as critical, and the fate of our Young Republic is totally in your hands. Be brave, be resolute, and be strong. And Happy New Year!
