Camden, Your Time In Hell Begins

Posted December 3rd, 2010 by Iron Mike

The music has stopped, the piper must be paid.  Camden, your time in hell begins.

Have you ever been to Camden?  You know – Philadelphia’s ugly little cousin sitting across the Delaware River, mired in crime, union corruption and Democratic politics?  Strongly suggest you not visit after dark.

Camden has been suffering the predictable and expected outcome of multi-generational Democratic rule of indifferent welfare recipients.  It is a case study in the failure of the plantation welfare paternalism of the Democratic Party.

Population has dropped dramatically from its post-war high of 125K in 1950.

Now down some 36% to around 79K, only 19% of the residents can be counted to show up and vote.  That’s pretty much the city and county payroll and their relatives.  The slaves [welfare recipients] don’t even bother to vote.  Think drugs, alcohol, generational ignorance, and a good population of illegals have anything to do with this?

So for over 50 years Camden has kept it’s nose above water on state and federal money.  The answer to crime was always hire more police, and tax property holders more to pay for it.

They no longer have a count of abandoned property in Camden.  Many of those abandoned buildings have burned several times.  Hire more firefighters – quick, get a federal grant to pay for them.

If I failed to make the point – abandoned factories and homes pay NO taxes.  When government raises taxes enough – businesss and people who can just up and get out.

Now Camden is broke.  New Jersey is broke. Our federal government is broke. Even our first black president can’t waive his magic wand over Camden. Camden can’t borrow from the Chinese because they’re broke and have nothing left to mortgage.

The days of make-believe are over.  Camden will lay off 400 workers, half of them cops and firefighters.  Did I mention that little Camden has the 5th highest murder rate in the nation?

NOW GRASP THIS CONCEPT PEOPLE:

The kind of utter despair and chaos Camden is now mired in is EXACTLY what the Soros/Obama/Socialist cartel has in mind for our entire country.

They want us hopelessly in debt, hopelessly unemployed, hopelessly unable to pull ourselves out of it,  and huddled in our homes from rampant street crime.

THEN, they can justify all sorts of FEDERAL takeovers, and the Constitution and your civil rights be damned, because “this is an emergency the founders never envisioned”.  Camden is going down first.  California is probably next.  Then maybe Pennsylvania or Illinois or Michigan.  Then it will be your town and your state.

Far-fetched?  Could never happen?  Ask the nice folks in Camden.

Do you think the citizens of Camden can band together to police their streets with neighborhood watches,  chase out the drug dealers and the pimps, and keep their own town safe for the next 2 – 10 years?  Or has 50+ years of plantation living dumbed down their gene pool to the level of zoo animals who only know the limits of their cage and when it’s feeding time?

Can these folks clean up their own town, or will they still expect the zoo keeper to come clean up their dung and leave fresh food?

The Cloward and Piven strategy of the Puppetmaster (Soros) and his Puppet (Obama) are finally seeing the fruits of their entitlement society. There are 45% of the population on food stamps, I am sure many more than that in Camden, Newark and Patterson. In spite of the valliant efforts of Governor Christie, the state of New Jersey will probably be the first domino to fall with their bloated, unfunded public sector pension plans. The other states following closely behind California, Michigan and others will plunge this Nation into fiscal chaos that will jeopardize the Republic, as we know it. If and until the unions and the liberals see the light, if they choose to see the light, we are in a death spiral and if the new Congresss does not make some very hard and unpopular decisions be prepared for anarchy.

Mike, you and Perplexed Senior have hit the nail right on the proverbial head. But we don’t have to look to NJ to see the the result of generations of entitlement politics as we have a similiar situation of our own here in Tax-a-chusetts; Lawrence. The city can’t pay it’s own bills and is currently in receivorship.
I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the Glen Beck Show but all of last week was outstanding as he was elaborating on this very subject.
Most people don’t grasp the gravity of the situation. The moon-bats don’t get it and the Mass-Holes are self-serving and are only concerned about getting theirs. The best thing that can happen at this point is if California tanks before any of the other states and there is not enough $$$ to bail them out as Cal has the world’s 8th largest economy. That would be an effective wake-up call/example to everyone else.

About 2 years ago we were driving back to Boston from DC on 295 (avoiding the tolls) when we were forced to exit due to an accident and suddenly found ourselves driving around in the middle of Camden NJ. It was high noon on New Years Day. We locked the doors and literally prayed that the car would not break down. I didn’t know such a place existed in America. Most of the buildings were boarded up. A few people who looked pretty scary were hanging out or wandering on the streets with no regard to traffic, partly because there were almost no cars. Although, we saw a motorboat, about a 30-footer, laying in the road at an angle without a trailer. How it got there was a mystery. Our minivan with Mass tags stuck out like a sore thumb. I finally spotted an on-ramp to a toll bridge to Philly and we got out of there as fast as we could. Didn’t care what the toll cost. It was one of the scariest experiences I’ve been through in a long time. My teenage sons still talk about it.
