A Rusty Tanker To Die For?

Posted March 14th, 2017 by Iron Mike

Somali pirates have grabbed a small coastal tanker off Northern Somalia,  a test for Trump.

When it’s over,…it will be interesting to count the times Trump says “I”…

Imagine the desperation of your life – to be working as a coastal tanker crew sailing on an aging (1991) rust bucket through dangerous waters….

Then imagine how desperate your life is – to sail out into the shipping lanes to hijack such a vessel,  – with small arms and RPGs….knowing the US Navy is likely to catch you and kill you….

It’s been nearly 8 full years since Somali pirates captured the Maersk Alabama,  when sharpshooting Navy SEALs took out the pirates,…and VP Joe Biden blabbed their unit identity to the world….

Unfortunately, today’s left-wing media will attempt to compromise any rescue effort from the very start,…in the hopes that Trump might ‘fail’ – where Obama succeeded…

And of course all rescue operations are not equal.

So brace yourself for days of ugly ‘reporting’ (mostly amateur speculation) while this drama plays out at sea.

UPDATE:  Thurs 16 Mar 2017   Early reports indicate the pirates have released the tanker – without getting any ransom,   and the ship is proceeding to port in Bosaso on Somalia’s northern coast.

Do you remember when pirates seized a French ship and demanded $2M ransom? The French paid and while the pirates were leaving the captain gave the order to destroy them. The crew fired on the pirates and took them out of the water. There was nothing left but some smoke and dollars floating on the surface.

That’s about 4-5 years back when people had this thing called backbone. This doesn’t happen any more. Add to that the ‘baddies’ have gotten much more bold, educated and financed.

The ship is of Panamanian registry and the crew is Sri Lankin. It’s not our problem.

I thought pirating ended when ship crews started arming themselves. If this crew didn’t, then they’re idiots and not our problem.
