Teachers will get their 16% raise while kids will continue to be taught by teachers who speak Ebonics.
CTU President Karen ‘I never miss a meal’ Lewis wins another round for Unionized Mediocrity. To Chicago’s political sellouts [aka elected Democrats] their problems will seem behind them come Monday when 350,000 students will be off the streets and out of sight – ‘safely back at school’.

The highest paid teachers in the country with a school system that has less than a 50% graduation rate. The white flight will continue to the burbs and Chicago will become another Detroit.

“An honest and principled compromise”??? That would be funny if it weren’t so serious! There is absolutely nothing either “honest” or “principled” about Rahm Emanuel. It is illegal for unions to strike. President Reagan did not back down when the Air Traffic Controllers went on strike… he fired them and replaced them with military Air Traffic Controllers until new ones could be trained! That’s what should have happened to these teachers. It’s not as though they can’t be replaced. They aren’t good teachers anyway as they prove by putting themselves up as more important than the children they teach (if you want to call what they do “teaching”)! *sigh*
