Niki Tsongas’ $73K Photo-Op

Posted April 26th, 2011 by ironmike

Niki Tsongas is DESPERATE to look like she’s doing something meaningful.

Today she wasted your tax dollars with a self-serving photo-op at the Chelmsford Fire Department – where she took a whole hour to give Chief Curran a check for $73K.

She was a bit disgruntled at our reception committee.

I think she’s getting tired of my face.  Or maybe of my drum?

This is the letter I gave her:

RE:  Your $73K Chelmsford Fire Department Photo-Op

Congresswoman Niki S. Tsongas
Massachusetts 5th Congressional District

Niki, did you ever once think . . . .

That $73K is not your ‘gift’ or the result of your ‘hard work’.   It’s our own TAX money coming back to us.

Well, at least 60% of it is.  The other $29,000.oo is money we are borrowing from China – that our grandchildren will still be repaying some thirty (30) years from now.  If we still have a country.

The rest of it – the $44,000.oo is just pennies on the dollar of what we PAID IN TAXES.   By the time all the government hands – at the IRS, – at Treasury, – in Congress, – in the GAO, – in Homeland Security, and finally in your office got done touching it – that $44K represents probably just 40% of $110,000.oo that we paid in taxes.  Government is a gruesomely inefficient way to spend taxpayer money.

Even your trip here – with gas being over $3.75 a gallon – up from $2.45 / gal in November 2008 – makes today a very expensive and unnecessary political boondoggle.

Go back to Washington and start cutting the Federal Budget!  Cut!  Cut!  Cut!

Force Obama to lift drilling restrictions.  We need to drill NOW for our own oil!

Work with Representative Allen West.  Vote the way he does!

Excellent article, great signs and photos and a great time was had by all, except maybe Niki and her aid de campe Brian Martin, not pictured, but her wheelman for the SUV, not a hybrid, but a Chrysler. We are not against new gear for the fire department, just against political oportunists passing out checks like it’s theirs to patronize the union and town officials.

Mike’s article is right on target. The handling fee from Washington DC is HUGE… Keep in mind, if they return money to the cities and towns — then they are taking too much money initially.

How pathetic. She’s a clown in human clothing. It’s the same as me stealing money from someone on the street, meeting up with them later and offering them half of what I stole as a “gift”. I don’t know how she sleeps at night. I hope she doesn’t. rr

They come back home, with a smile, “bearing gifts” with one hand, and the other hand picks our wallets. Too many people can’t see the shell game going on. The government is robbing us of our labor, robbing us of our property and robbing us of our rights!

Was this “gift” a slice of the pizza she used a few weeks ago to lamely demonstrate her big ideas about government spending?
All I know is that I’m still working for nothing until about June thanks to Washington and the state taxing the hell out of me…

You guys are the best! Keep the pressure on! Like water dripping on a rock — it will not be denied.
